Wearable sensors are battery powered and hence the management of the limited available power is critical for prolonging sensor node lifetime. The proposed research will tackle the power resource management problem in wearable sensors that are integrated with gyroscopes and accelerometers, for the purpose of accurate monitoring of patient's motion and people's daily living activity. An experimental approach will be used, preceded by development of a measurement system for conducting a battery of test cases. Analysis of measurement data will provide answers to the research questions of where to process the sensed data and the frequency of polling the sensor nodes to achieve high energy efficiency.
