Our research program is centered on the rational design of nanoporous materials and their applications in separation and catalysis. The key objective of the proposed research program is to develop novel strategies for the preparation and modification of functional nanostructured materials, and their evaluation for environmentally-driven applications in (i) catalysis (e.g., biomass to fuels and high-value added chemicals, biofuels synthesis, light hydrocarbon activation, selective hydrogenation), (ii) environmental protection (e.g., wastewater and air treatment), and (iii) separation (e.g., selective removal of greenhouse gas CO2 and other acid gases). Within the next five years, we aim at developing commercial applications based on our CO2 removal technology.
