Security and Privacy in the Cloud

Cloud computing represents one of the fastest growing computing paradigms in recent years, as it can provide users and organizations dynamic, scalable, cost-effective access to infrastructure, platforms, and software over the internet. Cloud storage is one of the key services enabled by the cloud computing paradigm which allows users to use these types of services not only for archiving and backup purposes, but also for everyday storage. This enables ease of access to data from various platforms and locations, as well as moving complexities associated with data management from users to service providers. A key obstacle to such infrastructures is ensuring adequate security and privacy for both cloud storage providers and their clients, while providing acceptable levels of maintenance, availability, and processing. This proposal focuses on making key contributions to three major areas in cloud storage: efficient storage of data, the private search of remotely stored content, and the assurance of data integrity and its retrievability.
