Island Technology Access Centre

Camosun College is opening the doors to its Technology Access Centre, which will be named Island Technology Access Centre, ITAC. This Centre was made possible by a generous 5 year grant awarded to the College by the National Sciences and Research Council of Canada. The NSERC supported Island Technology Access Centre, at Camosun College, will address a recognized need with in-house expertise and infrastructure. It will become a key player in the regions ability to innovate and deliver significant economic impact with a sustainable business approach. ITAC will complement the colleges academic offerings with a suite of industry services that will fill the gaps in the local innovation environment. It will enhance local SMEs ability to innovate, reduce their product development time, and provide them with access to faculty expertise, advanced manufacturing equipment, prototyping capabilities, and access to applied research funding and infrastructure that they would otherwise not have at their disposal. The TAC at Camosun will provide a full spectrum of technical services including; 1) prototype design and development, 2) sensor and electronic device development, 3) textiles and technical garment testing, 4) human performance technology development, 5) environmental technology, 6) wireless protocol/device integration, 7) health sciences. ITAC will build on the problem solving and client collaboration approach developed by SPIN and VICAMP. This TAC will be the home to professional turn-key services.
