The Timmins West gold mine, which includes the Thunder Creek syenite hosted deposit is the first gold mine in the Timmins camp that is hosted by an alkaline intrusive complex, the Bristol Township Alkaline Complex. The proposed research will examine mineralization at the Thunder Creek deposit, as well as nearby mineralization at the Hwy-144 property. The objectives of this project are to identify the different stages of mineralization and alteration at the Thunder Creek deposit; to compare the mineralization at the Hwy-144 property to that at the Thunder Creek deposit, and to the syenite-hosted mineralization in order to develop a genetic model for the Thunder Creek deposit and to assess the potential for additional mineralization at depth below the Hwy-144 zone.
