项目摘要

The research project will develop method to estimate the axial load capacity of helical steel piles (screw piles) based on torque measurements during pile installation. This will allow for the design and fabrication or modification of a small scale hydraulic wrench and power pack complete with torque to load conversion chart(s) and/or equation (s). The research will also develop new construction methods and improve design of helical piles with floating stabilizers. The benefits to Canada are in helping to differentiate national competitive advantages in the niche helical pile industry. At present, similar products are being developed and manufactured within Canada that could also benefit from the floating stabilizer in areas subject to frost uplifting. This grant will facilitate licensing or adapting the floating stabilizer to other helical screw pile systems both in Canada as well as internationally.
