项目摘要

Magnetar Games wishes to promote two standards developed by the United States Department of Defense for general use in simulations, geographic information systems (GIS) and computer gaming. The first standard, SEDRIS, provides for lossless interchange of environmental datasets. The second standard, High-Level Architecture (HLA), provides a uniform and extensible way for computer simulations and calculations to interact and exchange data on distributed computer systems. Magnetar Games and the PI propose to develop astrophysical models for the SEDRIS and HLA platforms and to create a prototype environment for research, collaboration, entertainment and education. This platform would first focus on astrophysics both because of the inherent public interest in astrophysics and because of the vast archives of freely accessible data and algorithms. Magnetar and the PI intend to extend the platform to other domains in the future such as GIS, robotics, natural resources, emergency management and defence.
