Soil-Structure Interaction Behavior of TDA in Road Structures

Road structures represent a major investment for developed nations including significant amounts of expenditure, time and effort. In addition, environmental development and manufacturing are among the top strategic sectors that both the provincial government of Nova Scotia and the federal government of Canada are striving to support in order to achieve economic sustainability. The main goals of the proposed research are to better understand the soil-structure interaction behavior of TDA and to optimize its design for North American road structure applications. It anticipated that this research will boost the use of TDA in road applications. The results of the proposed research will present an added value to the Nova Scotia economy in particular and Canada in general as it will create new viable geotechnical application using tire waste materials. In addition it will be of interest to geotechnical and structural engineering consultants, municipal engineers responsible for infrastructure management, departments of transportation and infrastructure contractors.
