Multi-constellation GNSS Precise Point Positioning

My research project intends to take advantage of the availability of new satellite navigation signals in geodetic positioning and precise navigation, and my recent developments in our in-house precise point positioning (PPP) software (GAPS) and our effort in using numerical weather prediction information for modelling the neutral-atmosphere, including the recently VMF1 service opened at UNB. Until recently, only 2 GPS frequencies were available. The modernization of GPS, the consolidation of GLONASS and the implementation of Galileo, has offered more frequencies, which open more opportunities for positioning in more challenging environments, as well as to address the same problems in a novel ways, such as dealing with the ionosphere. I want to continue with my current research taking advantage of the growing availability of GNSS satellite signals. Currently, in addition to the original GPS two-frequencies, there are the second civilian code (L2C) and the third L5 GPS frequency in a few satellites, initial Galileo signals, plus the GLONASS signals. During the timeframe of this Discovery Grant, the constellation of L5 and Galileo satellites will increase.
