NUCAP is a privately owned company with its headquarter in Ontario. It has developed a patented GRIP MetalTM technology to generate a series of hooks on metal surface in order to enhance bonding strength between metal and adhesives. The company wishes to expand its business into light weight fibre metal laminates (FML) for aerospace applications. However, the damage tolerance of the bonded structure with GRIP MetalTM under cyclic loading is unknown and numerous GRIP MetalTM configurations require a way to assess the fatigue behavior in a batch manner. This research is proposed to examine the presence of cracks and crack propagation in aluminum GRIP MetalTM and bonding behavior of GRIP MetalTM sandwiched structure after cyclic loading while at the same time develop a batch fatigue test method so that sandwiched structure with various hook configurations can be assessed in simultaneously
