英文摘要
This Discovery Grant is focused on the cellular biology of ion channels and regulation of nervous tissue excitability and learning and memory. The voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels and ligand-gated glutamate receptors called AMPARs perform many functions in the human brain, including maintenance of resting membrane potential and regulation of memory-forming synaptic plasticity, respectively. Several members of the Kv-family of potassium channels, namely the Kv1.5, Kv4.2 and HERG channels, and AMPARs are expressed in an area of the brain, called the hippocampus, which is responsible for encoding and storing memory.
