The Canada Research Chair in Software Change and Evolution focuses on the resilient software update of very large and domain critical software programs. Large software programs are part of everyday life and must change to adapt to a constantly, fast-pace changing environment and user base. However, in large software programs, it is difficult to avoid unwanted side effects, including defects, bugs, and faults that could threaten the program users. Thus, we will develop approaches and tools for resilient software update, in a way to avoid software evolution disrupting expected software behavior, avoid long term software degradation, improve software quality, and decrease software total cost of ownership.
