Dr. Damascelli's research program aims at furthering our understanding of the electronic structure of quantum materials in single crystal and thin-film form, and tailoring their charge, magnetic, and orbital properties to achieve novel functionalities. The unique experimental facilities for photo-electron spectroscopy and complex material preparation, at both the UBC Quantum Materials Lab and in the Quantum Materials Spectroscopy Center at Canadian Light Source, will provide the needed infrastructure to ensure success of his program, and will establish the Quantum Matter Institute at UBC as a premier institution for development of quantum materials that are technologically critical for the next-generation of devices.
