Increasingly we store our personal information on digital platforms such as social computing web sites (e.g., Facebook), health information systems (e.g., electronic patient records), and smartphones (e.g., Android phones). The research area of Access Control is concerned with devising schemes that would enable users to specify restrictions of information access (only my family doctor may see my patient records), as well as technologies for enforcing such specified restrictions. The proposed research program is aimed at developing innovative Access Control technologies for healthcare applications and social computing web sites, as well as software tools for system administrators to better manage the security and privacy of such systems.*
