At the microscopic levels, the behaviour of particles is determined by the laws of quantum mechanics. In recent years, scientists have discovered that this quantum nature can be employed as the backbone for a new generation of technologies with applications ranging from secure communication to quantum computation. Through the Canada Research Chair in Optics and Quantum Information, Dr. Deny Hamel's research aims to discover how novel optical interactions can be used as building blocks for the development of quantum information technologies.
