英文摘要
This research project will test and improve a new and innovative wireless sensor technology. This technology**will be used for environmental measurement and monitoring deployments. Typically, effective environmental**monitoring requires regular measurements of environmental variables under different conditions (wet vs dry)**and seasons (summer vs winter). However, this is not always possible in locations that are remote and/or**difficult to access on a regular basis. The new wireless network technology being developed, tested and**improved in this research project should allow us to monitor many locations simultaneously across large areas.**The performance of this new technology in a real-world field deployment has not yet been evaluated. The main**goal of this research project is to understand how much different factors affect the performance of the new**technology so we can adjust the design and better anticipate challenges that might arise in the future.**Ultimately, the outcomes of this project will improve environmental measurement and monitoring capabilities**for environmental science researchers and practitioners across academia, government and private industry.
