Wireless networks are constantly evolving to support higher bit rates, lower cost (per bit), better quality of service and ubiquitous coverage. Novel engineering techniques, based on a close link between theory and practice, are needed to overcome this challenge. Multiuser Information Theory provides a strong foundation to achieve this objective. To realize this promise, significant efforts are needed to further develop these concepts and ultimately bridge the gap between theory and practice in this emerging field. This research will address several problems along this path, including Co-operative transmission, Information theoretic security, Decentralized networking and Interference management/alignment.
