Uncertainty affects all forms of decision-making, especially in the case of planning transportation and logistics systems, considering the variations, disruptions and extreme events that can occur. Therefore, the Canada Research Chair in the Stochastic Optimization of Transportation and Logistics Systems aims to develop novel and efficient methodologies to deal with uncertainty when solving optimization problems arising in organizational planning. Three general research questions are investigated. How should optimization models that explicitly consider uncertainty be formulated and how should the impacts of this uncertainty be assessed? How should the resulting formulations be solved? How can the developed methodologies be validated?
