Canada Research Chair in Evolutionary Biophysics and Population Dynamics

The CRC in Evolutionary Biophysics and Population Dynamics will integrate protein biophysics, evolutionary biology, and population genetics to address fundamental problems in molecular and microbial evolution. My research focuses on two themes: (1) Developing a multiscale approach to predict the evolution of drug resistance and (2) Developing novel bioinformatics tools in molecular and protein evolution. Theme 1s success could lead to optimal drug dosing regimen to increase the efficacy and duration of use of antimicrobials, currently a major global health crisis. Theme 2s success could lead to novel tools in genetics to understand the evolutionary origins of proteins and genomes.
