英文摘要
Even the simplest cells are unbelievably complicated. Thousands of different types of molecules (DNA and proteins) work together in various combinations. Although this complexity is daunting, biology is in the throes of a data explosion: complete genome sequences for every patient and digital microscope images for thousands of molecules will soon be available.We will develop computational and statistical techniques in order to use these new data to understand how molecules create the complex behaviours of the cell. Eventually, scientists will predict which mutations will lead to cellular malfunctions and disease, and understand how complex organisms can appear during evolution.
