项目摘要

This proposal is for a phosphorescence spectrometer to support four research programs in UBC Chemistry. The proposed instrument will be capable of fluorescence and phosphorescence spectroscopy, be capable of phosphorescence lifetime measurements, and can accommodate a wide variety of solution and solid samples for room temperature and low temperature experiments. The instrument will bring urgently needed new capability to UBC, and will complement existing infrastructure which is capable of fluorescence spectroscopy and lifetime measurements. Research in materials for optoelectronic devices, new polymers and photonic crystals, bioconjugates for point-of-care diagnostics, imaging and sensing as well as optically active materials derived from forest bioproducts will be supported by this infrastructure. A large number of highly qualified personnel will be trained on the equipment and benefit from its availability, and anticipated outcomes in new and improved optical and medical devices are anticipated, benefiting the research field and Canada.*****
