The Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC) will create capacity in advanced design, design simulation, and prototype testing to further the competitiveness of Albertas manufacturing industry. Through customized support which builds on Red Deer Colleges (RDCs) established Center for Innovation in Manufacturing (CIM), this TAC will help innovators design and test their creative solutions to advance their companys profitability and capability. Red Deer College's CIM-TAC will help increase the capacity of micro, small, and medium-sized manufacturers (SME) by providing access to technical expertise, technology, and design networks. RDCs CIM has operated for 10 years as a regionally unique, low volume manufacturing facility providing medium, small, and micro companies with an affordable alternative to in-house research and development. The CIM has completed 179 industry contracts, evidence of the colleges ability to leverage its broad capacities, network, technical capabilities, and multi-skilled technical experts to provide timely solutions to industrys manufacturing and design problems. 90% of these contracts have been with companies that fit the entrepreneur, micro, SME definition. Rural clients especially noted CIM experts for their diverse skill sets, capabilities, and responsiveness to unique challenges associated with manufacturing outside of major urban centers. Given this track record of innovation and success, the Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing - Technology Access Centre at RDC is destined to grow the success of even more of Albertas innovative manufacturers.
