The Canada Research Chair in Environmental Change and Society will conduct research to quantify how climate change will impact aquatic resources in Canada and around the world. Analyses will involve: ecosystem budgets of energy and mass influx based on decades of lake monitoring;; comprehensive lake surveys; novel climate reconstructions; and long-term measurements of greenhouse gas emissions. The research program includes the continued development of the Energy-mass flux framework to quantify and predict the unique, interactive and hierarchical effects of climate change and human activities on the structure, function, management, and protection of ecological and human systems.
