This research program is focused on modeling, design, optimization, fabrication and characterization of high-performance photodetectors optical imaging systems for emerging applications in health and environmental sciences. Significant growth in these emerging areas is expected as advances in the semiconductor industry, that drives the information and communication age, are used to manufacture low-cost, compact and highly sensitive imaging systems for applications in medicine, biomolecular sciences and environmental monitoring. The proposed research in new imaging components and systems will significantly impact our quality of life, through applications such as cancer screening, and detecting environmental pollutants or harmful emissions.
