The ongoing research program of Dr. Haynes, which aligns closely to the needs of the biotechnology industry, as well as the equipment and reagent manufacturers that serve that industry, will provide fundamental and operational advances to the instrumentation and methods currently used to manufacture therapeutic proteins and oligonucleotides. These advances will include novel chromatographic media and methods for high-resolution purification of protein therapeutics at manufacturing scales, and technological advances in instruments and assays used by clinics and hospitals to detect and quantify genetic targets integral to the proper diagnosis and treatment of disease, most notably various life-threatening forms of cancer.
