My research program will focus on our understanding of sulfur cycling through the lithosphere. Tracing earths sulfur pathways from the surficial environment through the lithosphere will lend insight into ancient crustal formation processes associated with orogenic cycles and will shed light on source reservoirs in a variety of ore deposit settings, where sulfur acts as the main complexing ligand for metals. Metals are a cornerstone of the economy and are increasingly important in the development of renewable energies, the proposed research will develop and employ state-of-the-art analytical tools critical to targeting where metals and sulfur are accumulated in ore deposits.
