The research program "Stars, Planets, Debris, and Us" seeks to address multiple problems in planet formation theory and to use planetary astronomy expertise to confront the sustainable development of space. The program is an exploration of our origins and seeks to help place the Solar Systems formation and evolution into context with the many planetary systems now known to exist. The program also address two fundamental problems associated with humanity's expanded use of space: the evolution of orbital debris and the opportunities and astro-environmental concerns of space resource extraction.
