Whether we are counting on our fingers or storing dates in our smartphone, we oftenuse our body and artefacts in our physical environment to help us think. Dr. Riskos research investigating embodied and embedded cognition aims to provide a deeper understanding of this more distributed form of thinking and how this integration ultimately shapes our thinking. Using methods from experimental psychology in conjunction with psychophysiological measures and cutting-edge technology (e.g., virtual reality) this research will transform our basic knowledge of cognition and contribute to the development of strategies and technologies that enhance our cognitive capabilities.
