The objective of Professor Pawliszyns Chair is to develop state-of-the-art, integrated and automated analytical methods and instrumentation for on-site, in-situ, and in-vivo sampling. The major new direction in the third term of the CRC program will be strengthening successful collaborations with medical research teams from the University Health Network initiated in the second term. To facilitate this Dr. Pawliszyn will develop a minimally invasive in-vivo chemical biopsy tool and associated sampling and direct mass spectrometry determination protocols. The program directly supports Waterloos Strategic Research Plan motto Creating Solutions to Address Global Challenges by developing green analytical technologies.
