In the modern digital age our national economy, critical infrastructures and medical systems rely on complex information systems and communication networks. Providing data security and information privacy in such systems is a formidable challenge, whose failure can have significant consequences. The proposed research will leverage on the nominee's expertise in the field of information theory to develop new approaches for security and privacy in 1) wireless communication systems and 2) cyber-physical systems. It will lead to new paradigms in secure communications, that could have significant impact in emerging applications such as Internet of Things, 5G wireless networks, and smart grids.
