英文摘要
The proposed program for glacial hydrology and ice dynamics will use innovative and interdisciplinary techniques to address pressing questions about the future of the worlds ice masses in a changing climate. Basal hydrology is a first order control on ice flow and therefore directly related to rising sea levels. The proposed research spans various spatial scales: data collection assessing basal processes of glaciers in the Yukon Territory will feed into larger-scale modeling of Greenland and the Antarctic. The latter will examine impacts of basal hydrology in fast flowing ice streams along with ice interactions between the ocean and ice sheets.
