This research aims to develop a novel, economically-feasible mineral carbonation process to sequester CO2 for global warming mitigation by combining sequestration with increased metals recovery. It will use the mineral carbonation method to enhance the conversion of metals in silicates to metal sulfides. It will enhance the recovery of valuable metals and sequester CO2 to make a contribution on mitigating global warming. This approach has the potential through the increased metals recovery by carbonation and sulfidization to make the mineral carbonation technology profitable and applicable.
