英文摘要
The objective of this proposal is to push the limits of nanoscale electrochemical microscopy to resolve the photoelectrochemical activity of individual perovskite nanocrystals that are only tens of nanometres in size. The recent discovery of highly photoactive halide perovskite materials has captivated the attention of scientists and engineers across many disciplines due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties that are useful for light emitting diodes, solar cells, photocatalysts, photodetectors and lasers. The new funding, provided through the NSERC-FRQNT Team Research supplements will allow the original FRQNT team to recruit Professor Liu to the project, who is an expert in the field of perovskite nanomaterials. The team is being led by Professor Byers, an early career researcher at the Université du Québec à Montréal and is being carried out in collaboration with Professor Mauzeroll at McGill Univeristy and Professor Bélanger at the Université du Québec à Montréal. The original team project focuses on the development of new scanning electrochemical microscopy techniques that will enable researchers to visualize the flux of electroactive species to individual nanoparticles. The objective of the NOVA project is to extend the application of the new scanning probe methodology towards the characterization of individual photoactive nanomaterials that can be used for the solar driven generation of chemical fuels, such as hydrogen, which is expected to play an increasingly important role in Canada's clean energy future. The results of this work will create new capability for studying and designing new photoactive nanomaterials.
