Established in 2015 Plan de Vol International (PdVI), operating under the name flitePLAN, is an Oshawa, Ontario-based company providing consulting services to the airline industry. The company has developed fliteX, a software product capable of calculating the most economical airplane flight trajectory, significantly outperforming legacy software currently used by airlines. The first-generation fliteX proof-of-concept is currently implemented in a single-flight configuration and is capable of using real-time data. While the early demonstration code works well, it is not suitable for a fully-featured product with hundreds of flight optimizations occurring simultaneously. In the long-term, fliteX needs to be developed and deployed as a cloud-based, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product. To that end PdVI is partnering with Seneca's Professor Abdur Rahman to develop an alternative solution that can be deployed as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product, with many instances of fliteX running in separate Virtual Machines (VMs) in the cloud.
