英文摘要
Cell-based therapies are poised to revolutionize healthcare around the world. Promising to cure chronic diseases, and fully repair damaged tissues and organs, demand for these treatments will be tremendous - as will the costs. While the first few cell-based treatments have entered Canadian health care market, the massive price tag serves as a bottleneck for the uptake of treatments by doctors, patents and the government. In some cases, the cost-of-goods alone for cell manufacturing is estimated to be in the tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars per dose per patient. Effective, curative treatments may not see the light of day if they are not economically viable. The cost of cell manufacturing must come down to make cell therapies accessible. Over the past several years, we have engineered a biomedical platform integrating scalable cell culture, advanced statistical methods and Machine Learning, and robotic systems to systematically optimize cell manufacturing processes, making them cheaper, faster, and more robust. Our secondary market research indicates a strong need for the cell manufacturing process optimization service. The requested funds for a Market Assessment via a Lab 2 Market program will allow us to focus on primary market research to confirm, expand, or disprove our marketing plan assumptions, and to develop a detailed strategy for the commercialization of our platform.
