It is fair to say that there is currently nothing in Canada in the same research space as Aspuru-Guzik’s computational chemistry research program. Indeed, as the leading figure in the world in this research space, he will immediately put Canada on the map in this important and cutting-edge research topic. His presence at the UofT will serve as a multi-disciplinary beacon for Canadian and international graduate students, postdocs, and researchers to join his research program. In a very real sense, he will set the standard, and the agenda, for this major research theme across the country for years to come.
