Dynamics and entanglement near quantum phase transitionsMy research will uncover and characterize novel states of quantum matter, especially those emerging near phase transitions. Of particular interest are transitions that are driven by quantum fluctuations, in contrast to the familiar ones where thermal effects dominate. These quantum phase transitions are not only of fundamental interest, but also of practical relevance as they can, for instance, shed light on high temperature superconductivity. I will study their dynamical and quantum entanglement properties. My interdisciplinary approach will combine analytical and numerical tools from condensed matter with insights from quantum information and string theory.
