Starting in 2016, the DEAP-3600 experiment (SNOLAB, Sudbury) will search for particles of the mysterious dark matter that pervades the Universe. With this detector, the sensitivity for such measurements will be extended over 20 times, allowing a potential discovery, which for the first time would let us see the 80% of all of the matter in the universe that has so far remained hidden. The proposed research program will exploit the DEAP-3600 detector. A facility will also be developed at Carleton to pursue the development of next-generation experiments, allowing leading-edge materials and detector characterization and development of ultra-low background techniques.
