The fundamental principle of the Bohle research program is that new chemistry can be discovered by unraveling how biology and nature have surmounted chemical limitations/restrictions. The unifying guiding hypothesis is invigorating: New chemistry will be discovered by understanding how biological evolution has circumvented the fundamental chemical limitations imposed by terrestrial temperature, pressure, environment, and element distribution. In the course of this research we often develop significant new biomedical and analytical tools and reagents. Not only are these of considerable practical importance, but they also provide new approaches to old problems.
