英文摘要
Research in this second CRC term will focus on 1) soil microbial feedbacks in northern, C-dense wetland ecosystems facing warmer temperatures, enhanced CO2, permafrost degradation, and atmospheric pollution; 2) soil-level impacts of, and solutions to, intensified boreal and north temperate forest management; and 3) ecosystem-scale ¿mining of atmospheric C¿ through reclamation of mining-impacted brownfield landscapes. This research will serve as an interdisciplinary training platform for students by leading to fundamental discoveries in soil microbiology while also addressing societally and industrially relevant challenges of ecosystem responses to climate change and resource management, as well as exploring management solutions to these challenges.
