Rapid environmental change results in elevated extinction rates and thus poses a threat to biodiversity. One way in which organisms might respond to these changes, and thus persist into the future, is through adaptive evolution. This evolution may have important consequences for ecological patterns and processes. My research program will investigate this possibility by connecting genetic responses to environmental change with corresponding changes in population dynamics and community structure. The extent to which these eco-evolutionary dynamics are predictable is a major unresolved question in biology. The objective of my research is to address this issue and thus help understand how biodiversity will respond to changing environments.
