There are vast amounts of data all around us, yet most data analysis tools remain accessible only to experts operating in traditional office environments. My research program will advance the science of data analysis by designing, building, and evaluating the next generation of accessible and pervasive visual analytics tools that will make data more useful to everyday citizens. In particular, my research will develop new virtual, physical, and augmented-reality tools to enable in-context data collection, analysis, and decision making, enabling new personal and community analysis practices. This work will help democratize data analysis, helping whole new classes of users understand and benefit from their data.
