The CRC in Observational Astrophysics of Black Holes developed a highly successful research program that resulted in over 40 publications in the leading journals of the field. The goal of the second term is to take these initial results to the next level by building a model that describes in detail how black hole feedback operates in massive galaxies. This model will serve as a fundamental input for cosmological simulations, thus impacting many fields in astronomy, from black hole physics to galaxy physics and cosmology. The proposed science is based on well-tested methods and observations, as well as well-established collaborations.
