英文摘要
The impending environmental crisis imposed by plastics has created a need for sustainable alternatives. This proposal builds upon the expertise of two global leaders in Green Chemistry and a carefully crafted business development model to advance and commercialize a sustainable alternative to plastic-derived synthetic textile (e.g. nylon, polyester). The proposal is based upon patent pending technology developed at McGill University for the conversion of Kraft pulp into high-performance textile (herein called Treeyon), and is formulated around a Phase I I2I Market-Assessment. Continued support from the NSERC I2I program is critical for the success of this nascent technology, and will be used to produce a 1st generation prototype of Treeyon textile. It will also support on-going efforts to both lower the cost and improve the environmental footprint of the Treeyon production process.
