5G is the next wireless revolution that brings the Internet of Things (IoT) and faster and more reliable communication together for a connected society. 5G revolution is transforming all industries. This requires adding connectivity to the products which currently do not need to be connected. In the near future, tens of billions of 5G devices will connect everything that benefits from being connected. These devices will operate at higher frequencies with complex beamforming and massive MIMO schemes to enhance data rates. These make the quality control of these devices very difficult.The Over-the-air (OTA) testing is the standard procedure for wireless devices to verify the transceiver and antennas performance together in specified conditions. Due to the lengthy and time-consuming procedure of OTA testing, manufacturers and vendors currently limit themselves to a small sample rather than all devices for testing. However, for 5G devices, with 10 to 20 times more transceiver path than 4G and millimeter-wave massive MIMO capability, the OTA testing for sample products is not sufficient, and each device has to undergo the OTA testing to ensure reliable performance in complex environments. This situation creates an unprecedented challenge for manufacturers. Anteligen Technologies are developing a comprehensive suite of antenna measurements, OTA testing, and fault detection systems amenable for mass production characterizations of the next generation (5G/IoT) of devices. Anteligen's products will significantly reduce the manufacturing cost and increase the reliability of products.In terms of employment, if Anteligen becomes successful, it will have the potential to create 10s of high-paid and high-tech jobs in Alberta. This is critical for the province of Alberta as we tried to diversify our economy and make it less vulnerable to the oil price fluctuations.
