英文摘要
Building on the long tradition of scientific cooperation in quantum sciences between the French and Canadian research communities, prompted by the encouraging results of the bilateral institutional cooperation between the French National Centre for Research (CNRS) and Sherbrooke University, and connected to (and influenced by) the France - Canada Joint Committee on Science and Technology currently planned for the beginning of 2023, the CNRS and multiple French and Canadian universities (8 plus 8 to date) have united to form the Canada-France Quantum Alliance (CAFQA). The objective of this international research network (IRN) is to bring together French and Canadian researchers in different fields of quantum science and technology to create a visible, competitive and 'like-minded' trans-Atlantic research community which will result in multiple shared benefits for France and Canada, including increased ability to: attract funding from multiple sources; connect with applied and industrial sectors; increase the number and breadth of training and experience of graduate students; research efficiently through pooling of existing means and technological platforms. Though the IRN has been formed, they have not yet met face to face. It is crucial to have people meet in person to identify synergies and potential collaborations in order to enable the envisioned joint projects and grow the standing and reputation of both countries in the quantum field. At the inaugural meeting of CAFQA in Paris we aim to catalyze these collaborations by hosting up to 100 students, postdocs and researchers, 50 from each country, which will also provide an excellent international experience for our Canadian students.
