As the incidence of cancer increases, the contradiction between patients’ continued medical needs and limited medical insurance resources is intensifying. To alleviate the contradiction, several charitable crowdfunding platforms have come into being with the rise of online philanthropy. However, the information asymmetry between donors and patients on the crowdfunding platforms led to public doubts, and also challenged the important function of the "third distribution" of charitable donations, which became an urgent need to be solved to optimize the allocation of charitable resources in cancer aid. Although research indicates that crowdfunding information has a significant effect on charitable donations, the effects of crowdfunding information on charitable allocation and its mechanism are not clear. And it is worthy to further investigate the design of the crowdfunding information including both its content and supply method. From the perspective of information asymmetry, this project speculates that crowdfunding information can adjust the donor's subjectively perceived needs, matching it with the objective economic needs of patients to achieve the supply-demand balance in charitable giving, and consequently optimize the resource allocation. This project intends to utilize machine learning, traditional quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as behavioral experiments to clarify the effects and mechanism of crowdfunding information on supply-demand balance in cancer charitable crowdfunding campaigns. The results will help optimize the allocation of cancer crowdfunding charitable resources, extend the theoretical model of supply-demand balance of charitable giving, and provide decision support for policy formulation concerning crowdfunding information management.
