In this proposal, the western Nordic Sea is used as the study area, and the cores sampled at the 913 site of ODP151 Expedition and IS-04 site of Arctic Scientific Research in China are taken as the object. The grain-size thresholds, 63μm and 250μm, can be used to divide sediments into three subsamples. The 63-250μm subsample was leached to purify terrigenous debris. The elements and Pb-Re-Os isotopic composition will be determined for the purified subsample. Otherwise, the mineral assemblage and element composition of the >250μm subsample were analyzed by a petrographic microscope and electronic probe. These data above are combined with Sr-Nd isotopic ratios of the purified subsample to build an indicator system for the ice-rafted debris. The signal, intensity and provenance of the ice-rafted debris in the 63-250μm subsample are clarified due to the indicator system. After that, the occurrence and evolution of major ice-growth events in the Arctic will be understood since late Eocene. On the other hand, the elements and Re-Os isotopic compositions of bulk sediments from Oligocene and Miocene intervals are determined. Based on these data, the deep-sea ventilation index system which could be used to check oxidation-reduction property of bottom water, also be established. The change of oxidation-reduction property of bottom waters in the western Nordic Sea is clarified, and the opening of the Fram Strait is determined. The evolution models of the Arctic ice before and after the opening of the Strait are used to discuss the influence of the opening event on the evolution of the ice-growths. It is helpful to deepen the understanding of the driving mechanism behind the Arctic ice cycle.
极地冰盖在全球海洋-气候系统中具有标志性地位。了解北极冰盖古老历史有助于加深对北极冰增事件的认识。课题以北欧海为研究区,选取ODP151航次913站样品和我国北极科考采集的3站柱样为研究对象,以沉积物碎屑组分Pb-Re-Os同位素、Sr-Nd同位素、元素(含铂族和稀土元素)地球化学组成和矿物组成为主要研究手段。确定了格陵兰冰盖初始形成时间(44Ma)、几次重大的冰增事件;确定弗拉姆海峡早在39Ma时已经开通,比之前研究提出的时间早约3Ma,在约35.1Ma北欧海与北冰洋水体已经完成初步交换,深水联系已经建立;探讨了弗拉姆海峡贯通、北极冰盖消涨以及北欧海沉积物输运机制变化等的内在关联。提出太阳辐射引起的欧亚冰盖崩塌触发末次冰期终止,末次冰消期不列颠冰盖和芬诺斯斯堪的纳维亚冰盖的崩塌引发了冰岛冰盖的消退。阐明欧亚冰盖消退/扩张制约北大西洋Nd和冰盖源营养元素的地球化学循环,提出Nd同位素的脱偶程度可用于追踪冰盖演化。
