英文摘要
Delta-connected cascaded H-bridge (CHB)-based STATCOM is able to enhance transmission efficiency and power quality of power systems. The application of small film capacitors at the dc side of H-bridges can effectively reduce the cost and the volume of STATCOM. However, there still exists unsolved problems for small film delta-connected CHB-based STATCOM at the aspects of modeling and operation: 1) due to the interaction between capacitor voltage harmonics and modulation signals, it is challenging to build a time-invariant state-space model, which is suitable for operation analysis; 2) capacitor voltage harmonics are obvious owing to the independent design of STATCOM terminal currents and circulating current; 3) the over-modulation phenomenon appears if the reference output voltage is larger than the capacitor instantaneous voltage, which is an abnormal situation and can be originated from various factors such as evidently unbalanced load currents. The project aims at solving these problems by: 1) deriving a time-invariant state-space representation by taking the interaction between capacitor voltage harmonics and modulation signals into account; 2) the joint design of terminal currents and circulating current for capacitor voltage ripple reduction without damaging the power quality; 3) proposing an over-modulation strategy for emergency operation to extend the linear modulation area with consideration of output voltage quality. Finally, a software-hardware integrated platform for a delta-connected CHB-based STATCOM using small film capacitors is built so that the whole project is a systematic accomplishment covering theory, technology and platform. The project contributes to an economic and reliable STATCOM, providing research foundation for enhancing transmission efficiency and power quality of medium and high voltage power systems.
