As an important human-machine interaction (HMI) sensor, the touch screen sensor has been widely applied in personal portable devices such as smart phones. However, the working principle of traditional capacitive touch screen sensor depends on the contact between the finger and screen, which can only recognize two-dimensional gesture types such as touching and sliding. Aiming at this problem, this project is planning to investigate the screen sensor based on the principle of Maxwell’s displacement current, and realize the three-dimensional (3D) gesture recognition in a noncontact operating mode. Through establishing the theoretical model of 3D gesture recognition based on the Maxwell's displacement current screen sensor, its mechanism of 3D gesture recognition will be revealed. Meanwhile, the characteristic of the current signal generated by the screen sensor materials with different charge transfer properties will be analyzed, and the influence of material's charge transfer characteristic on the Maxwell’s displacement current will be clarified. Combined with the theoretical model and electrical measurement, the influence mechanism of the structure design of screen sensor on the output signals will be revealed, and the optimization method will be established. The effects of environmental and individual differences on the output signals of screen sensor will be studied and clarified. And a multi-channel signal processing and analysis system of the sensor array will be constructed to optimize the influence of environment and individual differences. This project could provide theoretical and methodological support to develop the new type of screen sensors for 3D gesture recognition.
